CS Clujana Cluj-Napoca

CS Clujana is one of the few clubs in Transylvania with an official cricket section, affiliated since April 2026 to the Romanian Cricket Federation.We are actively building a team to participate in the National Championship, and our community is small but deeply international — players from Europe, South Asia, the UK, and Romania.

Why play cricket at CS Clujana

Cricket brings together people from over 10 nationalities. It is one of the most diverse sports environments in the city — a space where you can train and socialize with colleagues from different cultures.

What is cricket?

Cricket is played between two teams of 11 players each. The essence of the game: One team bats , the other bowls and fields. The bowler delivers the ball towards the opposing batsman, attempting to dismiss him. The batsman hits the ball and runs between the wickets to score runs. After a set number of deliveries or dismissals, the teams switch roles.

Do I need to know cricket to sign up?

Absolutely not. We have players who started from scratch, having never touched a cricket ball. The coaches guide you step by step.

Required equipment?

For futsal training at CS Clujana Cluj-Napoca, it is recommended to have appropriate indoor sports shoes, comfortable sportswear, and a water bottle.

Equipment — What you need to get started

The good news: for the first training sessionsyou don't need anything at allexcept sportswear and sneakers. The club provides bats, balls, and protective gear.

As you progress, you'll want personal equipment:

Cricket bat (300–1500 lei, depending on quality)
Batting gloves (200–400 lei)
Leg guards (pads) (300–500 lei)
Protective box (mandatory for men, 50–80 lei)
Helmet (300–600 lei, for matches with fast bowlers)

Total investment for complete personal equipment: 1500–3000 lei, comparable to gearing up for any serious sport.

Batsman — the player who bats
Bowler — the player who bowls the ball
Wicket — the three wooden posts that the batsman defends
Over — a set of 6 consecutive deliveries
Run — the point scored by running between wickets
Boundary / Six — a ball sent over the boundary (4 or 6 points)
